The story behind the image
Lake Ammersee in Bavaria is a valuable destination at all times of the year. On a sunny summer day in 1999 we drove from Munich to Herrsching and found the little village full of tourists and day visitors.
This image shows the steamboat Diessen as it picks up passengers at the pier of Herrsching for its scheduled service on the lake. The ship has been completely renovated in 2006.
Wikipedia knows more about the boat (in German), and the official site of Schifffahrt Ammersee has all the information about the fleet, including the Diessen (in German), and how to book it.
