The story behind the image
In 2003, we spent two nights at the southern rim of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The weather had been perfect for the past couple of days, and so we were able to experience the national park perfectly.
This image shows the Desert View Watchtower which we visited on our way out to Page. The tower is seven stories tall and was built in 1932 by pioneering Grand Canyon architect Mary Colter. NPS has a full page on the tower and its history.
