The story behind the image
Today is the 11th November. Every year, this day marks the grand opening of the Mardi Gras season in Germany which is called Fasching over here. While the biggest activity and interest can be experienced in the areas along the rivers Rhein and Main in Western Germany, there is also a small commuity of party-goers in Munich who celebrate the so-called Fifth Season.
I shot this photo during the Faschingsparade in Munich in February 2007, and it’s a perfect match for being shared today. The lady wears glasses that have written Kölle Alaaf all over – a term commonly shouted at the Fasching in the Cologne area. The lady also has a temporary tatoo on her cheek showing the Cologne coat of arms. She must have been a big fan.
A press photo that I share directly from the original camera file without any edits.
