The story behind the image

Pitlochry is a lovely small town east of Loch Tummel in Scotland. During high season it is crowded with tourists due to its strategic location as perfect base for excursions into the Grampian Mountains. The town offers cultural attractions as well, especially The Theater in the Hills which has opened its gates in 1951. Of course, Pitlochry has its own distillery (Bell’s Blair Whisky), and has all the shops and restaurants a traveller might wish for.

Outside Pitlochry is Blair Atholl Castle, one of the many fairytale castles in the Grampian Mountains. Its oldest parts date back to the 13th century, and it offers more than 30 rooms in excellent condition. The beautiful, large gardens tell of the castle’s history in old photos.

We had to get to Edinburgh that day, and we were hoping to see it in sunshine. So we decided to keep our visit to the castle gardens short and started our rush to Edinburgh.
