The story behind the image
I was deeply impressed by the amount of public art that can be spotted in Paris, France, even in Metro stations! Our hotel was located close to the Bastille Metro station, and one evening we had to wait a few minutes for our train approaching. I took the time to capture this tiled painting on the platform for the city center.
The piece underlines the relevance of the Bastille in French history and promotes the term Liberté. Egalité. Fraternité. which is French for ‘liberty, equality, fraternity’.
I was stunned by the fact that this work of art was in perfect shape – neither damaged nor painted over.
Quelle surprise!
