The story behind the image
The island of Sardinia is best known for its beautiful beaches and relaxed lifestyle. The countryside, however, is beautiful, too, and well worth a visit.
Like the Nuraghe Is Paras in Isili which was erected as early as the 15th century BC. It was actively used until the Roman period. Made from white limestone, it is one of the most beautiful Nuraghes on Sardinia.
You will find several Nuraghes across the island. They can be best described as “ancient castle”, built by ancient people of Sardinia. A Nuraghe had (simple) living rooms, it could be defended well, and almost always can be found in strategically important locations. There are still about 7,000 Nuraghi on Sardinia, yet most of them are small and complete ruins today.
For this shot I deliberately opted for the f-stop 2.8 because I wanted the focus completely on the Nuraghe while blurring away the field in the front. The symmetrical composition works well, too.
I like the result.
