The story behind the image
The ‘Angel of Peace’ overlooks Munich in Germany from above the Isar River, and its one of the many iconic places of the city.
Easily ignored is the large place right below the statue. Usually it is surrounded by heavy traffic and does not invite for a stop-over. It is just a pass-through place for the visitors of the statue. From up there you have a much better view along the Prinzregentenstraße and the city.
In September 2006 I took my camera to capture the statue during sunset, and as I walked home, I realized that the fountain in the middle of the place is beautiful. The warm orange glow of the sun still illuminated the stairs leading up to the statue while the fountain was dipped into the shadow already.
I opted for f-stop 4 to put the focus on the historic street lamp which created a fantastic shadow on the wall in the back.
Nice.
