The story behind the image

Here’s yet another image from the family archive. It shows my grandmother Edith Schweim (born Gehring) with a stroller in the park of Schloß Eutin in Germany. While we can’t see who is actually in the stroller, I guess it’s my mother, as the image appears in the year 1942 along with images showing her during the first weeks of her life. On this day they were probably visiting the grandparents of my grandfather who lived close to Eutin.

I like this image because it expresses the joy she must have felt that – despite the raging wartimes – her pregnancy and birth with her second child went so well.
