The story behind the image
Earlier today I shared a photo of The Customs House (Teach an Chustaim) in Dublin, Ireland. Here is another one, showing the building from the Talbot Memorial Bridge.
Built in the 18th century, it served – as the name suggests – as a customs office for all goods that entered the island of Ireland through the large harbour of the city. The huge building resembles the Somerset House in London, UK.
Today, the building is home to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. A visitor experience center shows the building, burning and restoration of the structure across its long history.
