The story behind the image
In Ucluelet on Vancouver Island we stayed at the wonderful Ebb Tide B&B which was situated almost at the end of the Peninsula Road. From here, it is just a short walk to the Amphitrite Lighthouse and the head of the The Wild Pacific Trail. It is an easy trail, but has fantastic views of the rugged coastline of the Pacific.
I captured this photo at sunset time from the property of the B&B. I used a longer exposure time to capture the remaining light. While this image is certainly not as spectacular as the blue hour images shot at the lighthouse, I still like it because it shows the tranquility of the place, which is why we wanted to stay at the Ebb Tide B&B in the first place.
Looking at recent satellite images, there have been no fundamental changes since summer 2002.
