The story behind the image
Here’s another beautiful image from our Ricoh CX1 which was the best P&S camera I ever owned – before smartphones came up.
The weather in Lazise had been just so-so, but on that evening in June the sunset over the lake and the Alps on its western side was just awesome. We had been to a restaurant for dinner but were now enjoying a walk at the Lungolago Marconi. The town had strategically placed palm trees along the lakeside street to add a southern flair.
I placed the silhouette shape of one of the palms in the frame and captured the sunset. I know, it’s a bit of kitsch, but I like it anyway.
