The story behind the image
We left the busy town of Khorixas in Namibia in the afternoon to get to our accommodation for the night – the Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, situated about 100 kilometers west of Khorixas in the middle of nowhere. We did not exactly know what to expect, but Namibia is always good for a surprise.
The Twyfelfontein Country Lodge is simply incredible. Nestled along the mountains of the Twyfelfontein Uibasen Conservancy and next to the Twyfelfontein Paintings, utmost care was taken to reduce the visual and ecological impact on the environment by blending the buildings with the mountains. The architects did a fantastic job: from the distance the lodge can hardly be seen. Yet, it offers all the comfort and amenities you would expect from a high profile accommodation.
The interior designers also worked overtime. The reception area, for example, was presenting itself with warm colors and countless wooden elements. When we entered the reception we immediately felt welcome. Awesome.
Definitely both thumbs up for this place.
