The story behind the image
In 2005 we traveled along the Scottish west coast. From Gairloch we drove down south on the A832 and were soon passing the stunning Loch Maree with its embedded islands.
The landscape reminded me of the Canadian west coast and I wondered why people travel to British Columbia in Canada when they have such jaw-dropping beauty right in front of their doorstep in Europe? (There are many reasons for sure, but Scotland is as awesome as Western Canada in my view.)
I like this image because of the unspoilt beauty it gets across so well. The trees and the reflections in the water add complexity that is balanced out by the calm water and blue sky.
