The story behind the image
When we finally arrived in the Irish North West we were stunned by the absolute transquility and peace of the region. There were very few cars and trucks on the roads, and we felt a true peace and pure relaxation coming upon us. It’s no surprise that Nuns were attracted by this as it helped them with their studies and prayers.
Kylemore Abbey in Connemara is such a place. Run by Benedictine Nuns for the past 100 years, the Abbey welcomes visitors from all over the world each year to embrace the magic of the magnificent 1,000-acre estate. Sure, it’s a tourist attraction and can get crowded during high season, but we still recommend a visit. It is a beautful place full of history, and the shops offer home-made products as well as high quality gifts from Ireland.
