The story behind the image
San Marino is a tiny country situated within Italy, not far from Rimini. But it is an independent country with its own government. When we visited the historical center of the city, we came across the Piazza della Libertà right next to the Palazzo Pubblico della Republica, home of the San Marino government and the mayor of the city.
A black Audi A8 with the numberplate SM001 and a CD label, indicating that this car belongs to the Corps Diplomatique and that the owner is a foreign embassy, immune from prosecution.
Indeed, a few minutes later we saw Oscar Mina, one of the two heads of the San Marino state at the time, leave the Palazzo and enter the car, saluted by a guard. I really like the idea that even the highest politicians of San Marino are close to the people.
