The story behind the image
We visited friends in Bern in Switzerland and dined in the historic center of the city. It had been a warm evening, and on our way back we used the Nydeggbrücke, one of the bridges crossing the Aare river. We looked along the river and I was amazed how truly peaceful and quiet it was. The river was flowing gently and just very few cars could be seen and heard – which is pretty amazing for a captial city.
Fortunately I had brought my camera and could capture the scene. I really like how the long exposure smoothes out the flowing water. Several fluorescent tubes illuminated the river nicely, and for once I really like the fact that their lights turned out greenish on the daylight slide film. The warm light of the appartments subtly illustrated the special Swiss coziness I felt at that moment.
Very nice.
