The story behind the image
It must be the letter ‘I’ at the beginning of a country name. I love Italy and Ireland. (Probably I’d fell in love with Iceland, too.)
In 1999 we travelled Ireland for three weeks. Of course, we began our road trip in Dublin, the Irish capital. We got a first taste of the dynamic weather conditions on the island which can quickly change from blue skies to dramatic clouds (and some rain) and back to blue skies again within just hours.
When we explored Dublin we also passed the Department of the Taoiseach where the Irish government resides. There were really dark clouds in the sky, and a strong wind was blowing, and I thought this to add some drama to the image of the building.
Despite the mixed weather on that day, our trip was awesome, especially because the people across the country are super friendly and helpful. (I’ll never forget Mrs. J. B. Phelan of Lough Talt in Co. Sligo who provided us with a room in her B&B and offered us a tea when we arrived very late to her house.)
I hope to return soon.
