The story behind the image
Lisbon in Portugal is an exciting destination that has a long history, a rich culture and many attractive spots, be it the fortress that overtowers the city center, the super-sized Jesus statue, or the many restaurants with their Fado singers.
When we visited Lisbon in 1999, we took the tram to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos (the Monument of Discoveries.) The sun was illuminating the monument while dark clouds increased the contrast between the discoverers and the bridge spanning the Tejo river background, giving it a dramatic look.
