The story behind the image

20 years ago, Petra and I did a weekend trip to Helsinki to see some old friends and explore the city in winter. And winter it was! When we were walking along Karavaranta we got a beautiful view across the Pohjoissatama Harbour and the historic buildings of Pohjoisranta. A man was taking a shortcut across the frozen water of the Baltic Sea, carrying cross country ski equipment.

Sadly, I used just the (then) new Kodak CD 4800 digital camera, so the ‘high resolution’ is not high at all by todays standards. And the weather was not too good. It would have been a much better shot if the sun had came out. But I like the photo anyway
