The story behind the image
Of course, I cannot remember the Christmas of 1966 because I was just 15 months old by then. I lived with my mother and my father in a small but cozy appartment in Kiel, Germany.
And yes, I publish this image just for documentary reasons. While I look like a little Buddha I seem to be quite happy. At 28 years, my father looks happy too, so young and full of energy and optimism. The real challenges should soon enough show up, but with his positive spirit he mastered them all, and brilliantly.
So, I think this is first and foremost an image of hope.
