The story behind the image
Lake Ammersee in Bavaria is a valuable destination at all times of the year. On a sunny summer day in 1999 we drove from Munich to Herrsching and found the little village full of tourists and day visitors.
This image shows the steamboat Diessen as it leaves the pier at Herrsching for its scheduled service on the lake. (Wikipedia knows more about the boat, in German.) The wide angle captures the large size of the lake, providing lots of copyspace for those who need it.
