The story behind the image
Highway 1 is the important lifeline between Vancouver and the Banff National Park and the eastern states of Canada. And it’s a fantastic sightseeing route on your way to and from the Canadian Rockies.
We used the highway to get from Golden to Salmon Arm in British Columbia, and we did a short hike at Mount Revelstoke and visited the town of Revelstoke afterwards. When we got back from our sightseeing walk along the MacKenzie Avenue, a long train by Canadian Pacific honked loudly, announding its approach to the city. It passed right next to us, and I could not resist to become a train spotter for a minute and captured a photo of this giant in action. 😉
