The story behind the image
The Historic Route 66 in Arizona is full of amazing people and locations. In 2003, we found this wreck of a 1960s Chevrolet Impala right behind the Hackberry General Store about 27 Miles north-east of Kingman. (Read more on its history on theroute-66.com.) Over the decades, owners have changed and the appearance has changed as well.
From what I could research at the time of writing, the store is still open and well worth a visit. In any case, it’s much better to take the historic highway 66 than the interstate (which, of course, is faster.)
