OCTOBER 2005 – View across lake Schliersee with the Wörth island on a sunny afternoon in Bavaria, Germany. Photo © by Mark Zanzig/zanzig.com
The story behind the image
The lakes in southern Bavaria are embedded into the northern part of the Alps. Schliersee is a particularly beautiful lake that can provide stunning views even late in the year.
We took an easy hike around the lake and experienced the full autumn color range on a warm afternoon. Especially the view of Wörth (the tiny island located in the lake) from the western shore had been awesome. On the island there is an event location that ensures utmost privacy because it can only be reached by boat.
The photo has everything that I like: Saturated colors, beautiful contrasts, reflections on the water – and the rowing boat in the front as an eyecatcher. Also no big editing required – the image comes almost straight from the camera.
Nice.
