The story behind the image
Rain. Some say it’s a blessing. We say – could it please be ‘a blessing’ when we’ve departed?
As a photographer, you will have to cope with the weather and make the best from it during the time you are on location. So, to capture a lovely place like Victoria Street in Edinburgh on a dull and rainy evening, I opted for a longer exposure time (1/8 sec.) and a high viewpoint.
I like the lights of the car that reflect on the wet, almost empty street. The colorful houses look good, too, even in this otherwise grey surrounding.
Don’t get me wrong. Of course, I would have liked to shoot the street in sunlight or on a nice evening with a clear sky. But our last few days in Scotland were rainy, very rainy. So I had to make the best from the situation.
