The story behind the image
This shot shows the western facing side of the Colosseum, along the Via dei Fori Imperali. It’s a long shot with a tele lens (probably the FD 70-210 mm). Looking at recent satellite images, this photo would be impossible to capture today due to massive construction works that have been going on for several years now. Also, the area has changed quite a bit. For example, the trees that spill over the wall on the left are nowhere to be seen in 2022 satellite imagery.
It was also quite difficult for me to find out where, exactly, I took this shot. Heck, I like it anyway. 🙂
