The story behind the image
Lake Garda in Northern Italy is one of our favorite destinations for weekend getaways. The reason is simple: It’s just a four-hour drive from Munich away but transports you directly into an Italian mood. While genuine Italians might disagree and claim that this area is just an extension of Munich, the people around the lake are pretty Italian in everything they do. Whether it’s icecream, pizza, or the weekly gathering at the piazza – once here, you will feel Italian. A least a little bit.
In June 2001 we had booked a room at the Hotel Europa in Riva del Garda, which is strategically located close to the town center. It offers beautiful views across the tiny harbour and the lake. Very nice.
