The story behind the image
This is my great-grandmother Dorothea Schweim, photographed by one of the photographic pioneers in Northern Germany, the great Albert Giesler.
This CdV photograph was probably taken in Giesler’s studio in Eutin in 1889 or 1890. The fact that there is a matching photo that shows my great-grandfather, Theodor Schweim, suggests that this could have been a wedding gift for the couple.
Theodor and Dorothea got married on the 30th June 1889 in Malkwitz, Germany.
And here is a photo of them, probably taken around 1915.
