The story behind the image
Kiel Week is coming up in June. Kiel Week? Yep. That’s one of the oldest and largest sailing events in the world that usually takes place every year by the end of June in Kiel, Germany. Countless sailors – both professionals and amateurs – come to town to enjoy nine days of sailing and partying.
I moved away from Kiel in 1992, but in 1999 I visited Kiel Week again. We booked a half-day excursion on the tall ship Mir to experience the Baltic Sea near Kiel.
This photo shows a nice detail of the Mir: ropes tied to a solid wooden railing.
I still think this is a beautiful maritime image. If you like it, too, then please return in June for more maritime images.
