The story behind the image
Our village, Unterhaching in Germany, is situated next to Munich and pretty close to the Alps. Most winters bring a few days of extreme snowfall, often over night, and when you wake up in the morning, the landscape has changed entirely. Everything will then be covered by a deep layer of snow, it will be really quite as the snow blocks out most noises and their reflections.
Exactly three years ago there had been such a night, and on the walk to our local kindergarden, I took this snapshot with my smartphone. Usually the snow turns into dark brown and dirty patches within a couple of days, so capturing the fresh and unspoilt snow for documentation is the purpose of this image.
