The story behind the image
This is a photo from the family archive. It shows the passenger ship Siegfried cruising the Rhine on a sunny summer day in 1937.
It’s one of those rare photo nuggets that one can find in the archive. It’s not super sharp (at least when scanned at high resolution) and it’s not the best print either. So what’s so special? It’s the fact that it is quite old and the surroundings at Oberwesel probably have changed since then. And that there is very little information on this paddle steamer available on the web, just very few postcards for sale, but that’s it.
So, with this image, I’m throwing in a bit of information into the black hole of global information.
