The story behind the image
The island of Tenerife belongs to Spain but is located next to the African continent. It is a good place to spend the winter, be it on vacation or for a longer term. We spent two weeks on Tenerife to explore the island and relax.
I had brought my good gear and one day everything was coming together for this shot at noon time: a small boat (nothing more than a nutshell, really), direct in the sunlight coming in from 11 o’clock, and nothing more than the majestic Atlantic Ocean.
I love the simplicity of this shot, the reduced colors and the expression of man fighting against the powers of nature. This photo expresses this fight perfectly. Love it.
