The story behind the image
Exactly 20 years ago Petra and I spent a long weekend in London to explore the city and do some Christmas shopping. I brought the tiny Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital camera which I had purchased earlier in the year. One afternoon we took a long walk along the Thames river and encountered this beautiful view of the (much photographed) Tower Bridge in the city center.
Back then I was amazed by the quality of the digital shot, and you could see the result right away! Don’t laugh! Please remember that the most common phot medium was film back then. Depending on film type and scanner used, a 35 mm slide was good for prints of up to 40 x 60 cm. Of course, this is impossible from a 3.1 Megapixel digital shot like this. But two decades ago, I was blown away. And even today, I still like the very accurate reproduction of colors.
