The story behind the image

The former Neubiberg Air Base had been closed 30 years ago and offers plenty of photo opportunities. Of course, there is the huge asphalt landing strip which is very popular with runners, cyclists, inline skaters, dog walkers, and basically everyone.

Once you stray a bit from the landing strip you will find very attractive places like these abandoned railroad tracks. They just end in a set of huge bushes and trees which have not been touched in three decades. It’s a bit spooky but then again it’s good to see that nature simply claims back its space if left alone.
