The story behind the image
Salmon Arm in British Columbia is a striving commmunity that is located on Highway # 1 right in the middle between Calgary and Vancouver. It sits at Shuswap Lake, surrounded by mountains, which makes it a perfect spot for outdoor activities.
This photo – shot exactly 23 years ago – shows the Margaret Falls Upper Canyon at the Herald Provincial Park which is located north of Salmon Arm and can be reached in 25 minutes drive. The short hike to Margaret Falls offered fantastic views of wild nature in the canyon. The waterfalls were the highlight, of course.
Looking at recent satellite images, the area has changed very little over the past 20 years. I have to admit that I like this, especially considering the radical changes that take place elsewhere, and much faster.
