The story behind the image
During our recent trip to Paris, France, we encountered a wild mix of weather – ranging from clear skies with lots of sunshine to cold periods with heavy rain.
The sun was shining when we left the Metro station Abbesses to explore Montmartre, best known as the Artists’ Quarter of Paris (even if you find art almost everywhere in the city.) Of course, we visited le mur des je t’aime (the wall of ‘I love you’) which is just a few steps away, walked up to the Place du Tertre where artists offered ad-hoc portraits, and continued to the magnificent basilica Sacré-Cœur. Thousands of tourists had done this as well, and the space in front of the church was really busy.
We sat down on the wide stairs leading up to the church and saw dark clouds coming up in the distance. We were joking, saying “wow, it seems to rain over there!”
However, two minutes later we were not laughing any longer, because it started to pour rain, a heavy rain shower! Everyone was heading for the church looking for shelter. The guard at the entrance tried to do his job but was just overrun while everybody was running for the interior.

The rain went away as quickly as it had come, and the sun was shining again – just as if nothing had happened. (I took this photo after we left the church again.)
Weird.
