The story behind the image
Back in 2006, spending 500 Euro for two nights in a tent is not for the faint hearted. But for our excursion to the Namib-Naukluft-Park we had booked the excellent Sossusvlei Lodge in Sesriem which is conveniently situated right in front of the entrance gate to the park. Accommodation-wise, we wanted it to be the highlight of our trip, and our wishes had been fulfilled. The service and the comfort were incredible and worth every cent, especially considering that we were in the middle of nowhere and still had all the amenities you may want.
This image shows our ‘tent’. It had a solid base, delicate furniture, a state-of-the-art bathroom, and it was located at the edge of the steppe. At night, we heard just the mild wind of the desert and the sounds of nature.
A refreshing experience. And a dream.
