The story behind the image

In 2022, we decided to visit San Marino, a tiny country situated within Italy, not far from Rimini. We drove to the parking lot at the valley station of the Funivia, the cable car that brings you directly to the historic Città di San Marino on top of the mountain. You can enjoy spectacular views in all directions as well as rather quiet (for the lack of traffic) walks through the historic town center and along the walls of the fortress. Several shops offer reasonably priced jewellery, watches, clothes, and souvenirs.

You can only guess my excitement when I came across this image in a large lot that I purchased recently. It shows Erika posing for the photographer in front of the historical skyline of San Marino – in 1958! And honestly, there is very little change over the past almost 7 decades.

Which in my view is terrific.
