The story behind the image
Here is another lovely postcard shot of Meersburg in Germany in 1958. Well, almost. But first things first. I really like the composition of this image, especially with the seagull flying over the water high above the photographer. Of course, I do like the old red buses which add a genuine vintage feeling. The reflections of the Hotel Seehof (in the center) are great, too.
However, when editing the image I realized that it is not tack-sharp. Sadly, I had to apply a good amount of sharpening to get it to this state. Even when reduced to the typical size of a postcard (10 x 14.8 cm) the lack of sharpness is still visible to a certain degree. What’s more, there are some weird spots all over the sky, probably fungus of some sort.
Then again, I’m not going to print any postcards from it, and I think the positives outweigh the lack of sharpness, so let’s leave it at that. It’s a nice image, but I wish it would be sharp and on Kodachrome film. 😉
Have a great day, folks!
