The story behind the image
In 1999, we did a side-trip to Florence in Italy – a great year-round destination but even better in summer. While the historical dome, like almost any place in the city, is being captured on countless photos every day, here is an unusual angle of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, the timeless, iconic beauty in the heart of the city. (Of course, I’m sure that this angle has also been shot before.)
Whatever, I took a long shot of the north-west corner of the duomo, along the northern front. And I still like it.
