The story behind the image
We strongly recommend a visit to the village of Mammoth Lakes. It is beautiful, and the surrounding nature is simply breathtaking! When you drive up Lake Mary Road you will also pass the Twin Falls Overlook which offers stunning views across the Twin Lakes and the Inyo National Forest.
This image by Carl Haas is from 1958, and the comparison with my shot from 2005 (almost five decades later!) shows that very little has changed. In 2005 there were less trees than in 2005, especially on the left side of the bridge.
However, even today, It is a place of extreme beauty and peace, and that is well worth the drive IMO.
