MARCH 1932 – A postcard shows the harbour of Beaulieu-sur-Mer in France, and the Cap Roux in the back. Published by Editions La Cigogne, Monaco
The story behind the image
Here’s another historic postcard from the French Riviera coast. This one shows the harbour of Beaulieu-sur-Mer in 1933. The card was sent by a German couple to her daughter in Germany on 20th December 1933. The text on the back contains a Christmas greeting.
On that day the couple had been to Beaulieu-sur-Mer but it’s not clear whether they actually lived there or were just on a vacation. Since the text mentions letters sent and received, I think they actually had moved to this beautiful spot.
From a technical viewpoint, I am (again) amazed by the superior quality of this genuine photo print. It is well exposed and shows balanced greyscale tones. It is tack-sharp and in a very good condition, despite its long trip to Germany. Just very few scratches and no damages to the image portion of the postcard.
Lovely.
