MARCH 1932 – A postcard shows the Café de Paris in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on a busy summer day.. Published by Editions Grimaldi, Monaco
The story behind the image
Here’s a historic postcard showing a busy day in summer in Monte-Carlo in 1932. The photographer stands at the casino and looks at the Café de Paris situated at the Place du Casino and All. François Blanc. It so easy to imagine someone like Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot walking by and observing the people.
Technically, I am amazed by the superior quality of this genuine photo print. It shows well-balanced tones, it is tack-sharp and is in generally very good condition, despite being sent on 23rd March 1932 to Germany. Just very few scratches and no damages to the image portion of the postcard. Awesome!
Have a great weekend!
