The story behind the image
A lovely postcard shot of the castle in Meersburg, Germany. Its tower overlooks the castle mill below (a water mill with an impressive wheel which cannot be seen from this location), and the majestic roman-catholic church ‘Mariä Heimsuchung’ in the back.
Fortunately, Meersburg could preserve its medivial charm despite the masses of tourists flooding the town in the summer. The historic town center is beautiful with many small and steep streets, and an awesome waterfront. Its harbour does not only support passenger ferries but is also home to a car ferry to Constance that saves you at least 30 minutes of driving time (and probably more in summer.) As a bonus, you get a nice trip across the lake.
Lovely.
