The story behind the image
Here is another lovely postcard shot of the castle in Meersburg, Germany. Its tower overlooks the castle mill below (on the left) a water mill with an impressive wheel which cannot be seen from this location. In the center of the image is the Bärenbrunnen (lit. Bear Fountain), and a mother walks up the steep steps towards the photographer.
Not much change to the image I shared this morning, right? Right! Except that this image is from about 1958. In fact, over the past almost seven decades, Meersburg has not changed significantly in its historical town center. This makes it a real jem at Lake Constance. Of course, the tower and the buildings have been renovated during that time, and shops have changed as well. But in principle, the town has remained the same.
Meersburg? A must-see at Lake Constance!
