The story behind the photo
On the island of Kos, Greece, we stayed at a hotel in Marmari Beach, a tourist village at the north coast. But we also did an excursion to the beautiful and busy city of Kos. (Well, as busy as a small town on an island can be.) It had been a hot, sunny day late in summer, and we enjoyed the long walk along the harbour.
There were countless traditional fishing boats lined up, apparently a still very active fleet. Can’t say how active this fleet is today – three decades after I took this image – but I like the image for bringing back a lot of nice memories.
