The story behind the image

This image is from the family archive and was shot by my mother during one of her many stays at riding stables in Schleswig-Holstein. Sadly, she did not provide further details, i.e. no place, no date, no names.

Oh wait! We do have the name of the mare: Bellamie.

I like this photo because it is really a nice photo of a mare and her foal peacefully grazing at the paddock. But, being a bit of a nerd, I like the comparison of the recovered version and the unedited version even more! Time and again I am amazed what can be recovered from old photos.

This one is one of the earliest color prints in our archive, and I am grateful that my mother did not use color film more often. While it was not really challenging to recover it, at least somewhat, it is much easier to get black-and-white prints back to life… 🙂
