The story behind the image
In 2013, we visited the town of Sirmione at the southern end of Lago di Garda in Italy. During summer, it is packed with tourists who enjoy the visit of the old town and its key attraction, the fortress.
The Castello Scaligero di Sirmione is a unique, water-surrounded castle that dates back to the 13th century. It can be visited, but the tickets are expensive – at the time of writing a single ticket cost € 10.
My photo shows the view from the historic old town towards western section of the castle. As in most historic Italian towns, the area has not changed significantly since 2013, which is nice, in my view.
