The story behind the image
The winter 1946/47 had been another cold winter in Northern Germany. Despite the cold temperatures, my grandparents enjoyed the walks through Malente-Gremsmühlen where they had lived since 1943.
During one of these walks my gradfather captured the eastern wing of the historic Villa Bade, situated right next to the Schwentine river and opposite of the historic water mill Gremsmühle which gave Gremsmühlen its name.
Over time, though, the villa had fallen into disrepair and the vacant building was demolished in September 2017 to make way for new appartments.
