The story behind the image
2008. We explored Lago Maggiore, a lake that is split between Switzerland and Italy. While the entire region is influenced by the Italian culture and lifestyle, the Swiss part has certainly also a touch of Swiss culture. So, it’s interesting to discover what happens when you cross the border between Switzerland and Italy. Surprise, surprise: Life does not change a lot. It’s basically the same, and the big changes come when you move further into Italy, leaving Ticino behind.
You will encounter many beautiful views, especially when using the passenger ferry service that connects the major towns around the lake.
My photo shows the motorship Camoscio as it cruises the lake towards north. In the back there is the Castelli di Cannero which is situated in the middle of the lake, and the town Cannero Riviera. You can find out more about the Camoscio on the official page Gestione Governativa Navigazione Laghi.
Lago Maggiore? A great destination for summer holidays!
